1.
Introduction: eRS-Secure
is a secure, multi-user, on-line electronic
Student Registration system for Colleges and
Universities in the Golf area. The required
system functionalities are implemented according
to the Ministry of Higher education in the UAE
and following the American Standards for Higher
Education. The main purpose of the eRS
product is to fully automate a university
registration process and synchronize the
registration information between all concerned
parties. The system supports six (06) main
groups of users, namely: Students, Faculties,
Dean, Registrars, Admission, and Administrators.
2.
System Components: eRS-Secure implements
two types of components, which are integrated in
a single coherent environment. The first
component relates to the system entities such as
Student, Faculty, Course and Tuition; the second
component relates to the system processes such
as student admission and registration, course
offering, attendance management, and time
tabling. The system is implemented in such a
manner that any user can easily navigate to a
different semester from the same interface,
while the data will be filtered
accordingly.

System Interfaces: eRS implements six (06) different
interfaces; each interface is tailored to the
need of a specific group of users. Users of the
eRS system are grouped as follow:
-
Admission users:
users under this category will perform the
admission of the new students as well as the
modification of their personal details.
-
Registrars will be
responsible for the management of the semesters,
tuition fees, and other optional and mandatory
fees. In addition, users under this category
will be also in charge of checking and
validating the following processes: student
registration, course offering, and time tabling.
-
Faculty users will be
responsible for the management of the
corresponding advisees and courses (attendance
and grading).
-
Deans will be
responsible for the management of faculties and
courses under their college as well as for the
course offering and time tabling (in addition to
the management of their students including
attendance and grading).
-
Students will have
access to their specific course material,
grades, attendance, and transcripts.
-
Administrators will
have access to the complete functionalities of
the system.
The following
sub-sections present few interfaces from the
e-RS system in brief. The sections shortly
describe the main components of systems and
illustrate the system through a number of
screenshots of the most important components.

in getting into the e-RS system; after each
connection-request to the system, the latter
authenticates the user and provides him/her with
the proper access to the set of components
corresponding to his/her access rights
privileges.

In
addition to the system administrator, five (05)
groups of users are supported, namely:
Admission, Registration, Dean, Faculty, and
Student. Figure 2 presents the Main Menu for
Dean of College, which show the main modules
that can be performed by users under the Dean
category. Data will be filtered from system to
only include students, courses, and faculties
under the management of this specific
college.
